Having scooped an acclaimed Editor’s Choice award from the UK’s 220 Triathlon Magazine, new swimming watch computer Pool-Mate is making its presence felt. The Pool-Mate revolutionary ‘wristworn swimming computer’ has a range of features. A key plus for the product is that it delivers the only fully automatic lap and stroke counter for swimming.
Set to make headlines in the world of swimming and multisport, the Pool-Mate is a comprehensive watch that will automatically calculate a swimmer’s lap count, average strokes per lap, speed, distance, calories and efficiency.
There is no need to press a button or turn a dial at the end of each lap, as with current lap counters. The Pool-Mate counts laps after an initial press of the start button and swimming commences. Featuring advanced motion sensor technology, the Pool-Mate ‘really brings swimming into the 21st century.’
Pool-Mate is the brainchild of London-based company, Swimovate, which was originally founded in November 2007 by a team of UK triathletes seeking to develop innovative and affordable electronic training products for sports.
As well as total session statistics, Pool-Mate users can record data for individual sets within each session and time rest periods, in order to monitor how stroke changes through the swim. All data is available for immediate recall and is stored in a large log for comparison later.
In the company’s testing, over 100s of kilometres of swimming, it claims an accuracy rate of over 99.7% with a wide range of swimmers and all the major strokes deployed.
As well as the unique Swim Mode, the Pool-Mate has a useful 99 lap chrono feature so athletes can time splits during running/cycling/triathlons. It has all the usual sports watch features such as 50m water resistance, 12/24 hour time format, alarm, backlight and battery level indicator.
The watch is available online at www.pool-mate.com for £69.99 plus £3.50 p&p (overseas postage extra).
