Hot on the heels of a recall from Giant, Saris Cycling Group, has announced the voluntary recall of 2,000 bike trainers because they may pose a falling hazard to users.
According to a notice from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, a handle pin on the bicycle trainer may work itself loose during use, causing the machine to become disengaged, and pose a fall hazard to consumers. Although, to date, no injuries have been reported.
The recalled cycle trainers include: CycleOps Pro Series Trainer models 9014 (SuperMagneto Pro), 9331 (JetFluid Pro), 9460 (PowerBeam Pro), 9321 (JetFluid Pro Winter Training Kit), and 9322 (SuperMagneto Pro Winter Training Kit) without the secondary locking pin.
The units were sold at independent bicycle retailers nationwide across the US during October 2008 to November 2008 for between about US$400 (€305) and US$1,200 (€915).
US consumers can contact Saris Cycling Group at (800) 783-7257 to receive a replacement trainer.
