Rolf Prima has signed up two new pro triathletes for the 2011 season, Chris Bagg and Jesse Thomas, and has also just renewed its contract with Heather and Trevor Wurtele through to the 2013 race season.
Brooke Bauer of Rolf Prima told triathlonbusiness.com, “We are looking forward to another great season with our sponsorships.”
Rolf Prima recently signed with pro triathlete and ‘all around nice guy’ Chris Bagg to race on Rolf Prima wheels. Chris currently races and coaches for Athlete’s Lounge based in Portland, Oregon and has just completed a strong 2010 season. He plans to focus on more Ironman and 70.3 events for the 2011 race season.
“Working with athletes who want to help grow the sport as well as help grow other athletes within the sport is important to us,” said Rolf Prima owner, Brian Roddy.
“Chris is the kind of athlete who contributes to triathlon whether via Athlete’s Lounge or on the course and working with local athletes is always a win, win for us.”
Chris will be racing on Rolf Prima TdF85’s and the Rolf Prima carbon disc, while putting training miles on the Rolf Prima Echelon wheel model.
Rolf Prima has also signed fellow Oregonian pro triathlete Jesse Thomas. After clocking the fastest run split of the day at the 2010 Escape from Alcatraz, en route to winning his age group and placing 7th overall, Jesse decided to go pro.
Jesse’s first season as a pro included strong results where he established his signature finish with blistering run times. Jesse plans to focus his 2011 race schedule on US based races, kicking off with the 5150 New Orleans triathlon in May, followed by Escape from Alcatraz where he hopes to podium in the pro field.
Jesse will be racing on Rolf Prima TT85’s and rear Rolf Prima Disc, while putting in his training miles on the Rolf Prima Echelon’s.
Heather and Trevor Wurtele
Building on a successful second season with ‘Team Wurtele’, Rolf Prima is extending its sponsorship contract with Heather and Trevor Wurtele through to the 2013 race season. Both Heather and Trevor just finished their second full year of competing as pros.
“We’re super excited to be on board with Rolf Prima for the next three years,” said Heather. “Long course triathlon is getting more and more competitive. With Rolf Prima’s commitment to developing the best wheel technology we have the added confidence that comes with racing on the lightest, most aerodynamic wheels.”
For the coming season both Heather and Trevor will be racing on the new Rolf Prima carbon TT85’s and the Rolf Prima carbon disc, while putting their training miles on Rolf Prima Vigor’s built with PowerTap hubs.
