2XU USA has sealed a partnership with the UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team Presented by Maxxis as the squad’s Official Compression Sponsor for the 2011 season. Owned by Momentum Sports Group LLC, the team will wear 2XU Compression gear on and off the bike for training, racing and recovery.
“We’re extremely pleased to form this relationship with Momentum Sports Group and the UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team,” said 2XU USA Marketing Director, Richard Verney.
This latest sponsorship in the world of US pro cycling follows 2XU’s recent sponsorship contract with the RealCyclist.com Pro Cycling Team for that squad’s inaugural season in 2011.
“We aspire to put our gear in the hands of the industry’s elite cyclists to ultimately optimize their performance. The UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team truly represents the upper echelon of the sport, and we are proud to be a key component in their success,” added Verney.
Momentum Sports Group launched the United States based team at the end of 2009 with the support of top tier sponsors, UnitedHealthcare and Maxxis.
Coming soon, the largest cycling event in America, the 2011 Amgen Tour of California features eight stage races across nearly 800 miles of California; and UnitedHealthcare will be sponsoring Stage 4.
When asked about the team’s return to the race, General Manager and Team Director, Mike Tamayo, said, “We are ready. This team is ready, and we can’t wait for the Amgen Tour of California to get underway.
“Needless to say, we can’t wait to get out there and represent our sponsors and partners in the best possible way.”
2XU (‘Two Times You’) was originally launched in January 2005, and is driven by a relentless company mission to advance human performance through the development of world-leading athletic garments.
In its first year, 2XU graced the skin of multiple world champion athletes and has since formed powerful alliances and key partnerships with world champions across the globe in numerous sports including triathlon, cycling, swimming, soccer, cricket, netball, rugby and more.
Founded and based in Melbourne, Australia, 2XU apparel is designed and tested in consultation with industry experts, employing intelligent physiological design, cutting edge performance fabrics and construction.
Competing at such a high level, the UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team will turn to 2XU Compression for its unique ability to reduce muscle damage and heighten agility as these cyclists push their bodies to the limit.
Noting the key benefits the team will experience, Verney concluded, “Our 2XU Compression was engineered with elite athletes in mind. Our gear will work to increase circulation, thereby allowing the team to experience less fatigue and recover faster throughout their season.”
