Nation’s Triathlon roll call for Congressional Challenge


The Nation’s Triathlon has announced that registration for the 4th Annual Nation’s Triathlon Congressional Challenge presented by CQ Roll Call is now open.

Informational meetings about the race will be held in the Capitol Visitors Center (Room SVC 20-02) on 22 February 2011 at both 3pm and 4:30pm for people wishing to sign up or learn more about the race. Goodie bags will be provided.

Members of Congress and their staff, and federal employees are invited to form teams or compete singly in The Nation’s Triathlon To Benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

The Nation’s Triathlon is an Olympic distance triathlon taking place on Sunday 11 September 2011 and features a 1.5K swim in the Potomac River, a 40K bike course through downtown D.C., and a 10K run along Washington, DC’s monumental corridor.

The Congressional Challenge is open to all Hill staff and federal employees, including those who work for Administration offices and the White House.

According to Charles Brodsky, founder of The Nation’s Triathlon, “Participating in CQ Roll Call Congressional Challenge is a great way for federal employees to showcase their competitive spirit and their support for a fit and healthy lifestyle.

“As a world class triathlon event, we are pleased to welcome the participation of the people who make Washington, DC a world class city.”

Teams can include one, two or three competitors who would divide the various legs of the race (swim, bike, run) and must be comprised of federal employees, Members of Congress and/or their staff.

Offices will compete against each other for the fastest times in each event as well as overall. Top finishers among Democrats and Republican Hill offices will also be announced.

In addition to giving federal employees the opportunity to compete against each other, The Nation’s Triathlon has also been selected by USA Triathlon (USAT) as one of 10 regions that will serve as the 2011 Regional Championships and Special Qualifiers, which provide athletes the opportunity to qualify for the 2011 USA Triathlon Age Group National Championship.

The top 33% of each age group at The Nation’s Triathlon will automatically qualify for the 2012 USA Triathlon Age Group National Championship.

The Nation’s Triathlon is one of the premiere International distance triathlons in the United States and the only race to benefit research toward a cure for blood cancers – through its partnership with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
