The third edition of the successful TriStar Worms-Germany event has a range of new developments in the pipeline for 2012. To further increase the safety of the participants and to improve the quality of the event, TriStar111 Worms-Germany has changed, in coordination with local authorities, the bike course and the date.
With next year’s event taking place on Sunday 10 June 2012, the new bike course leads the TriStar111 Worms-Germany participants on a 2 x 50K circuit through the picturesque vineyards around Worms. The route of the TriStar33.3 Worms-Germany bike course has also changed. Participants can check out both new tracks at www.tristar111germany.de.
The new bike course of TriStar111 Worms-Germany was also presented at the Star Events Autumn Bike Ride on Sunday 2 October 2011.
Lothar Leder, the TriStar Worms-Germany Event Manager, is convinced that the new changes will improve the race, which in 2011 attracted around 1,000 athletes. “Our goal is to have 1,200 athletes on the start line in 2012. We want to increase the quality of our event. We are the perfect race to prepare for a big long triathlon in 2012.
“Our course is almost flat, fast and you recover quickly after the race. We have a change on the bike, now: 2 loops with 50K each, faster than last year. The spectators have the chance to see all the athletes after 50K. And also we will have a Kids’ Race on Saturday.”
Leder also announced a new location for the Energy Night (pre-race party). “Our Energy Night is going to be at the race site in 2012. So as an athlete you can park the car close to [the] expo, Energy Night, Bike Park and Start/Finish area. Our team is growing bigger and is even more motivated to deliver a perfect triathlon day in Worms on 10 June 2012.”
TriStar111 Worms-Germany is positioned as an ideal choice for beginners and experienced athletes alike, who want to get ready for other big European triathlon races in summer 2012. The 1K swim (in the calm waters of the raft harbour of Worms concluded by a smooth swim in the Rhine River) is followed by 2 bike loops of 50K through the beautiful Rheinhessen wine country. The 10K run crosses the Nibelungen Bridge twice, a part of which winds through the history-charged old town of Worms towards the finish-line at the Rhine River embankment.
Autumn Bike Ride 2011
To get in some early training and get a feel for the bike course, the organisers of TriStar111 Worms-Germany organised an Autumn Bike Ride 2011. The start took place on Sunday 2 October 2011 at 10:00 CET on the Kieselwiese at Worms. The bike course was run in 2 or 3 pace groups of about 23 km/h and 28 km/h, and there was be a short break at 60K with some fresh coffee-cake and coffee on offer!
