Headquartered in Spain, Orbea has reached an agreement with the Orca triathlon brand through which it acquires ‘operation rights in the triathlon and compression area.’
It is understood that, under a licensing agreement, this latest deal effectively gives Orbea global distribution rights to the Orca brand, following ‘four years of fruitful relations’ between the two companies.
The aim of Basque-based bike operator Orbea, which is already a leading distributor of [Orca] neoprene wetsuits, is to focus its full attention on the triathlon apparel category and ‘become leader in the market’ for swim/bike/run products.
Orbea began its business relationship with Orca four years ago when it became the worldwide exclusive distributor of neoprene wetsuits for the New Zealand brand. Through this agreement, Orbea began to supply triathlon clothing to its authorised distributors worldwide.
According to the company, the good results obtained from this relationship allowed Orbea to take further steps in its strategy of entering the triathlon marketplace.
The acquisition of the operating rights in the categories of triathlon and compression, with an agreement for an unlimited time, serves to reaffirm Orbea’s commitment to the triathlon industry.
Both Orbea and Orca see that this latest agreement ‘fortifies the image of both brands on their way to becoming a benchmark in the triathlon world.’
