Italy continues to make its presence felt as a key multisport destination. On 8 May the international duathlon Powerman Italy 2011 hits the road for its second edition.
Powerman Italy is the only Italian event of the prestigious Powerman long course duathlon world circuit that this year will take place in the USA, Holland, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland and Malaysia.
The home of Powerman Italy 2011 will be the fascinating city of Valmadrera, overlooking the magnificent Gulf of Lecco (Lake Como). The area offers participants great facilities and a landscape rich in cultural, architectural and natural beauty.
The race courses are similar to those faced during the successful 2010 edition in Malgrate (a neighbouring village to Valmadrera) (10K run + 75K bike +10K run).
According to the race organisers, the course is ‘characterized by high technical qualities, historical insights and landscaping ideas, such as the Lake Coast of Valmadrera/Malgrate in the cycling leg, the crossing of Bellagio (the pearl of the lake) or the mythical Colma of Sormano an altitude of 1135 meters above sea level.’
For those who prefer shorter distances a sprint distance duathlon (5K run +20K bike +2.5K run) is also scheduled.
