Sailfish is official wetsuit at Ironman 70.3 Ireland

Ironman 70.3 Ireland will be partnering with German wetsuit specialist Sailfish for the forthcoming event in Galway on 4 September 2011. Sailfish will become the official wetsuit of the event and will be providing swim tips and advice to participants in the run up to the inaugural Ironman 70.3 Ireland. Sailfish will also be providing official wetsuit hires for the event.

Ironman 70.3 Ireland has proved very popular, with over 2,000 entrants expected on race day. Taking place in and around Galway, Ironman 70.3 Ireland promises to provide participants with a first class event experience along the beautiful Galway coastline.

Kevin Stewart, Managing Director of Ironman UK and Ireland said “It’s great to be working with Sailfish for this year’s inaugural Ironman 70.3 Ireland, which looks set to be a huge success, with individual entries closing 6 months before the event and the public really getting behind the event.”

Sailfish Director and triathlete, David Niblock said “We are delighted to be part of such a great race. We are looking forward to some fast swims and hope swimmers enjoy the beauty of open water swimming in Galway Bay. We look forward to meeting athletes at the race and be sure to come by our booth for pre-race swim advice or last minute triathlon support needs.”

Ironman 70.3 Ireland is expected to generate €4 million of economic impact to the local area, with overseas athletes from over 30 different countries heading to Galway for the event. The event will also have an elite element – as top international pros compete for qualification to the 2012 Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Las Vegas, Nevada. Age group athletes also have an eye on the Ironman 70.3 World Championship as they look to pick up one of the 35 qualifying slots available at Ironman 70.3 Ireland.

Kevin Stewart added “although individual entries are closed, it is still possible to enter Ironman 70.3 Ireland via one of the charity slots through Irish Autism Action’s Team Duffy or the Team Relay via Croi. International athletes are also still able to secure a place as part of a travel package with Nirvana Europe, our official travel partner.”
