Sports nutrition company mix1 signs triathlete Timothy O’Donnell

mix1, the all-natural sports nutrition company based in Boulder, Colorado, has a new 2-year partnership with professional triathlete and 5x Ironman 70.3 Champion Timothy O’Donnell.

mix1 will serve as the official protein shake for O’Donnell as he prepares for numerous events in 2011 and beyond.

According to the company, understanding that proper nutrition is essential for optimal athletic performance, mix1 is committed to providing all-natural products that offer true functionality. O’Donnell’s success and dedication to the sport of triathlon embodies the essence of mix1 and makes him an ideal partner.

“Not only is Timothy one of the world’s best triathletes, but he exemplifies a healthy lifestyle which is a cornerstone of our brand,” said John Burns, CEO of mix1. “We are proud to have him as a partner and we look forward to supporting him as he continues to set new personal records.”

O’Donnell began competing in triathlons as a member of the US Naval Academy Triathlon Team. He led the team to two US National Triathlon Championships. Upon leaving the Naval Academy, he continued to achieve great success on the ITU circuit and went on to win several Ironman 70.3 races.

2009 was a banner year as O’Donnell became the 2009 ITU Long Course World Champion and was named USAT’s Triathlete of the Year. 2010 was another amazing year with a 2nd place finish at the ITU Long Course World Championships and a 3rd place finish at the Ironman 70.3 World Championships.

“The difference between a high-quality nutrition program and something less can be 1st and 5th place,” said O’Donnell. “I appreciate the fact that all of the products are all-natural and made with the highest quality ingredients.

“mix1 has been an essential part of my training and recovery, and I’m excited to become an official partner as I prepare for the 2011 season.”

mix1’s current product portfolio consists of the All-Natural Protein Shake (an all-natural pre/post workout drink available in mix berry, blueberry-vanilla, mango, strawberry-banana, peach, tangerine and key lime) and the Lean Performance Shake (a low calorie, all-natural pre/post workout drink available in acai-pomegranate and orange-twist).

Wes Brasher, Dr James Rouse, N.D., and Greg Stroh co-founded mix1 in Boulder, Colorado, in 2006 based on inspiration from the active, healthy lifestyles they enjoy in their home state.

All mix1 products are offered in 11-ounce bottles and are sold nationally at Kroger, Whole Foods Market, Publix, Stop & Shop, Vitamin Shoppe, and many other grocery retailers across the United States.
