According to the latest release from national governing body Triathlon New Zealand (Tri NZ), triathlon is New Zealand’s fastest growing sport with outstanding results achieved in its relatively short history.
The Tri NZ Constitution makes provision for the appointment in 2011 of a director in addition to those directors elected by the membership. This appointment, made by a Board Appointments Panel, is being made to ensure a range of skills and experience are in place for effective governance of the organisation.
A person is sought who will bring all or some of the following:
- The ability to think strategically, i.e. be able to see the big picture and to drive the organisation towards achievement of a challenging vision
- Management or board-level experience in a successful company or organisation undergoing rapid growth
- A commercial perspective, i.e. strong macro financial experience and general business skills and governance experience
The prospective director does not need to be an existing Tri NZ member. The position itself is ‘not paid but the return for involvement is an opportunity to make a difference and to achieve great satisfaction by contributing to a successful and exciting sport with an international reputation for producing top-class athletes.’
Interested individuals who are excited by the challenge of steering the dynamic, growing sport of triathlon in New Zealand are invited to download an application form and apply. Applications close on 31 July 2011.
