Zone3, the rapidly growing British wetsuit brand, has a new addition to its popular range – the Vision wetsuit. Available for both men and women, the Vision is a sub-£200 fully-coated neoprene suit. According to the company, at this price point, it is one of few available on the UK market.
Meanwhile, after years of extensive research and development, the 2012 Zone3 Vanquish and Aspire wetsuits have also been updated to further improve performance and looks.
Wetsuits are one of the more expensive purchases that triathletes and open water swimmers make. At £195, the Vision wetsuit provides features sought for by amateurs and elites alike. Whether an athlete is looking to enhance swim times, save vital energy by having a more comfortable fit or shave significant seconds off a triathlon transition time, the Vision wetsuit has performance in mind.
The Vision wetsuit includes a number of the key features seen on more expensive suits. It has Full Speed-Flo coating to minimise drag resistance in the water and the ‘super stretchy, spring loaded’ shoulder design generates a faster swim stroke, conserves energy and provides lots of flexibility to allow a full range of movement. This also minimises shoulder pain and relieves the restrictive feeling that swimmers can experience. The high quality neoprene is also built for speed, comfort and durability.
The maximum 5mm buoyancy panels from the torso to the knees help increase the swimmer’s core support in the water, saving extra energy for the bike or run in a triathlon. According to Zone3, this combination of flexibility and buoyancy provide the best possible efficiency in the water.
The Zone3 wetsuits are known for their Pro Speed Cuffs on the arms and legs, which allow rapid removal after the swim thanks to an innovative Silicone coating. The new Vision suit also includes this feature, which streamlines the transition process in T1.
James Lock, founder of Zone3 said, “2012 is an incredibly exciting year for Zone3, with a completely new range being launched and lots of high-tech features added. We invest a great deal in our R&D and listen to all customer feedback, which has resulted in some of the best rated wetsuits in the industry.
“An entry level priced suit has been something we are always asked for and the new Vision suit provides this but with all the benefits of a higher-end wetsuit – performance, comfort and style. This suit provides everything to make the open water swim the enjoyable, exhilarating experience it should be.”
Lock continued, “As triathletes, we are in tune with what an open water swimmer needs and wants from a wetsuit and have thought of every possible detail to make the swim as quick, efficient and comfortable as possible, while considering the all-important transition for triathletes.”
Revamped Aspire and Vanquish are a catch!
In addition to the launch of the Vision wetsuit, Zone3 is providing updated models of its flagship suit, the Aspire, and its popular Vanquish. The Aspire, worn by novices to professionals, has already achieved 10/10 in reviews and ‘Top Value’ awards. It was also nominated for this year’s Wetsuit of the Year in the 220 Awards, taking place on Saturday 3 March at the Triathlon Show – where it was the runner up in this category.
According to Zone3, the 2012 Aspire model is even better, having been updated to include premium SCS Yamamoto fabrics and the addition of 3D forearm catch panels, which give ‘a better performance, all over-flexibility and comfort.’
The Vanquish wetsuit has been favoured by Ironman distance athletes, who appreciate the suit for its comfort and flexibility around the shoulders, and Sprint/Olympic distance athletes for its speed and buoyancy. Updates to the 2012 Vanquish model include 3D forearm catch panels, Speed Channels on the torso, a new ‘T-shirt cut neck’ design and some subtle buoyancy variations. All have been tweaked to create an even more comfortable, speedy and efficient wetsuit.
At the Triathlon Show, Zone3’s Vision wetsuit and the new Aspire and Vanquish designs were on display. The company also ran its ‘Wetsuit speed removal’ competition; the quickest person out of a Zone3 suit got to walk home with the suit free of charge! The current benchmark wetsuit removal on YouTube has attracted over 110,000 hits and stands at 5.4 seconds.
Zone3 will also be ‘launching one further, very exciting, addition to its family later in March.’ Further details coming soon…
