Following a successful outing of the inaugural Ironman 70.3 Norway/Haugesund in 2012, the event organisers have confirmed that next year’s event – taking place on 7 July 2013 – is already sold out. While standard age group slots are now full, there are a limited number of relay places and pro places left for the event.
Ironman 70.3 Norway-Haugesund is managed by local race organiser WEN Events AS, in liaison with international Ironman brand owner World Triathlon Corp (WTC).
Haugesund, incorporated in 1855 and located 280 miles (456 kilometres) away from Oslo on the western coast of Norway, has gained fame as a city of culture – hosting the Amanda Awards, Norway’s variation of the Oscars, since 1985.
Athletes swim in Skeisvatnet, a small lake in the rural part of Haugesund, compete on the bike leg along the coastline of the North Sea and run through the town centre before they finish at the inner harbour of Haugesund.
Ironman 70.3 Norway/Haugesund is an Official Qualifier race for the 2012 Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Las Vegas.
