Multisport Performance Institute (MPI), has announced that USAT Level 1 coach Allen Stanfield has joined coaches John Murray, Mark Sortino, Peter Harsch, and Dustin Yonke to provide personalized multisport and run coaching. With the addition of Stanfield, Team MPI extends its presence from the northern panhandle of Florida and San Diego regions to the Gulfport, Mississippi area. While MPI’s coached athletes span the US, this expands the group’s physical reach.
Allen Stanfield is an accomplished triathlete and runner as well as the current president of Gulfport’s rapidly growing triathlon club. He earned the USAT All-American Honorable Mention distinction and has qualified the last four years for Age Group Nationals. Stanfield has overall wins at races from one mile to half marathon distance, is a Boston Marathon qualifier, and has overall wins at sprint triathlon and duathlons. He brings with him a wealth of experience, knowledge, and an infectious enthusiasm for the sport.
MPI President John Murray remarked, “Coach Allen enjoys working with athletes of all abilities and experience levels to help each reach their individual goals whether that is to complete their first race, reach the podium, or break through to new levels of performance. We are very happy to welcome him to our coaching team.”
MPI also announced that registration is now open for the third annual Portofino Sunset Tri Series presented by Infinity Bikes. The nine sanctioned Super Sprint distance triathlons are held on Thursday evenings from April through August and include a women-only race and a relay-only race. The 2012 series was a tremendous success with the 2013 season utilizing the same unique venue of the Portofino Island Resort, and the pristine setting of Pensacola Beach and the Santa Rosa Sound. The limited field, short distances, and focus on fun appeals to new triathletes as well as veteran racers.
