Global Icons to drive ‘thriving Ironman licensing business’

Leading brand licensing agency Global Icons has confirmed its exclusive worldwide representation agreement with Ironman, ‘the largest and most iconic endurance sports platform in the world.’ Working collaboratively with the Ironman team, Global Icons will sign qualified licensing partners. This will create new products that reflect the Ironman brand’s core essence – ‘durability, performance, authenticity and excellence’.

Since the 1986 launch of the popular Timex Ironman watch, Ironman has developed an impressive licensing program that generates more than US$500 million annually in global retail sales.

The IronKids brand, which promotes healthy and active lifestyles among youth, also produces a successful licensing initiative – including the popular IronKids Gummy Vitamins.

“We are delighted to partner with a renowned agency like Global Icons to help further expand our robust licensing business for our Ironman and IronKids brands,” said Andrew Messick, CEO of Ironman brand owner World Triathlon Corp (WTC).

“Global Icons will create new product and service licensing opportunities leveraging the aspirational equity of our brands.”

Global Icons will secure licensing partnerships and develop products across a wide range of categories. Catering to both professional athletes and people with aspirations of fitness, newly created merchandise and services will promote health and wellness for individuals of all ages. New categories are expected to include food and beverage, sporting goods, publishing and home electrics.

The agency will also advance the mission of IronKids by ‘aligning with a national retailer to host events and create exclusive products in the youth apparel, accessories, food and beverage, and fitness equipment categories.’

“We will seek out partners who can create products that are essential to healthy living,” noted Jeff Lotman, CEO of Global Icons “To help people succeed in reaching their fitness goals, Ironman and IronKids products will provide the resources they need to stay motivated and increase performance.”

Ironman stages nearly 200 events annually, around the world, across five brands including Ironman, Ironman 70.3, 5150 Triathlon Series, Iron Girl and IronKids.
