2XU riding high in Canada with National Cycling Centre Hamilton


2XU Canada has confirmed a partnership with the National Cycling Centre Hamilton (NCCH) in Ontario, Canada, which will recognize 2XU as the Official Compression Supplier of NCCH.

Apparel and compression specialist 2XU notes its tagline centres on its goal of ‘multiplied human performance’. The brand’s apparel offerings aim to enable athletes to thrive within their sporting domain. In its new deal with a centre of cycling excellence in Canada, 2XU and the National Cycling Centre Hamilton are eager to ‘fuse their passions as they help athletes succeed and look forward to continuing a legacy of performance’.

NCCH Manager and Head Coach Rick Lee said “We are delighted with the partnership, 2XU will supply Team NCCH p/b DEC Express U23 Elite riders world class compression apparel. In addition all NCCH members will be able to take advantage of a big discount on 2XU products.”

NCCH U23 rider Saskia Kowalchuk remarked, “The opportunity to work with a company in the forefront of the global market in compression and recovery garments is not only exciting, but a testament to 2XU’s belief in the Team’s potential!”

The National Cycling Centre Hamilton is a not-for-profit corporation created as a legacy organization following the successful 2003 UCI World Road Cycling Championships in Hamilton, Ontario. The Centre is one of five nationally recognized cycling centres in Canada and is responsible for identifying, recruiting, testing, coaching and training high performance and development athletes in the Province of Ontario.

The Centre is formally partnered with the Canadian Cycling Association, the Ontario Cycling Association, the City of Hamilton and McMaster University. Since its creation in 2005, the Centre has assisted over 22 athletes win medals at National Championships and/or become members of the Canadian National Cycling Team.

In December 2013, private equity firm L Capital Asia took a 40% stake in apparel and compression specialist 2XU. In turn, the deal was said to value 2XU at US$166 million, or roughly 2.5 times its US$65 million in annual sales. In recent years, 2XU has built significant momentum with a number of step changes for the business…

In March 2012, 2XU confirmed the acquisition of its US based distributor, Sports Multiplied LLC – following a successful six year relationship with the west-coast based company. Twelve months later, in March 2013, the company announced the appointment of Kevin Roberts as Chief Executive Officer.

2XU has an international array of sponsorship deals with athletes, organisations and teams. Most recently, in the summer of 2013, 2XU was appointed Official Compression Partner of the Ironman Foundation Newton Running Ambassador Triathlon Team.
