Spinlister, the peer-to-peer global bike share service, and Ironman have confirmed Spinlister as the Official Bike Share of Ironman for the 2014 race season. Spinlister will activate at the remaining 11 US Ironman races, including the Ironman World Championship presented by GoPro in Kailua-Kona, Hawai’i as well as the Subaru Ironman North American Championship Mont-Tremblant, the Subaru Ironman Canada and the Ironman European Championship Frankfurt triathlons.
Spinlister will provide Ironman athletes a peer-to-peer global bike share, allowing users to list and rent bicycles from each other. With users in over 100 countries, Spinlister is working towards its goal to list one million bikes globally. Spinlister is building a network of triathletes and cycling enthusiasts everywhere…
“As Ironman continues to grow, Spinlister is the perfect tool to connect triathletes worldwide,” said Ironman World Champion and Spinlister athlete Chris McCormack. “No longer is that destination race out of the question, you don’t have to miss that crucial training block when traveling, you now have access to the Spinlister Community.
“I’m proud to have been one of the first triathletes to list bikes and I’m excited to see Ironman finding value in a platform I believe in.”
Ironman has expanded its presence to over 110 Ironman and Ironman 70.3 races in 27 countries. “We are very excited to be partnering with Spinlister,” said Andrew Messick, Chief Executive Officer for Ironman. “As the Ironman brand expands globally, the need for a strong triathlon community becomes more and more apparent. Spinlister is connecting our athletes in new ways by providing a great service and we are excited to have them on board.”
Ironman and Spinlister are encouraging triathletes to join the global bike share to earn money, eliminate hassle, and meet likeminded athletes by listing their bikes at www.spinlister.com/list. All listed bikes are insured up to US$5,000 against theft or damage.
