Challenge Forte Village Sardinia picks up from Forte Village Triathlon

Challenge Family has announced a partnership with Forte Village Sports Academy and the launch of Challenge Forte Village Sardinia, taking place on 26 October 2014 in the beautiful natural settings of south Sardinia.

Replacing the Forte Village Triathlon, which had its first outing in 2013, Forte Village Resort – a premier luxury resort in Sardinia – will play host to the latest Challenge Family event. The race will take place between Pula, Domus de Maria and Teulada.

As a release from Challenge Family notes, ‘if Sardinia looks like the Garden of Eden for its amazing contrast of red rocks and green forests on one side and turquoise seas and white sands on the other, the south west end of the island is made for triathlon.’

After an ocean swim in crystal waters, Challenge Forte Village Sardinia athletes will go through T1 in the middle of 47 hectares of gardens, ‘surrounded by 15,000 trees and around two million plants, from aloe vera to yucca, bougainvillea, eucalyptus, palms and hibiscus.’

Once on the bike, the course will gently climb over Domus De Maria to enjoy ‘a breath-taking downhill until Teulada boosted by the enthusiastic local support’ before taking spectacular costal road back to T2. The final run is along the coast before finishing in the heart of Forte Village.

Challenge Forte Village Sardinia is the result of a strategic partnership between the host partner of the event Forte Village Sports Academy along with the ever-expanding Challenge Family series organisers. The Forte Village Sports Academy Amateur Sporting Association is affiliated with FITRI (Italian Triathlon Federation).

“Forte Village Resort is pleased and honoured to be selected as the host partner for the 2014 Challenge Forte Village Sardinia,” said Lorenzo Giannuzzi Managing Director of Forte Village Resort.

He continued, “With its commitment to quality and a healthy and active lifestyle, the Forte Village Sports Academy echoes Challenge Family’s values perfectly. The course is stunning and the triathlon festival nature of the event ensures total inclusiveness for everyone, from juniors, to those just starting out to accomplished athletes. I’m sure it will attract athletes and their families from far and wide, including some of the biggest names in the sport.”

Challenge Family CEO, Felix Walchshöfer, said the combination of Sardinia’s outstanding natural beauty and Forte Village’s world-class facilities are made for a perfect partnership with Challenge Family. “The island of Sardinia has to be one of the most beautiful places on earth and I know the athletes will not only be amazed by the spectacular course, but will also have the opportunity to enjoy some down time with their families in this wonderful setting.

“We’re delighted to partner with the team at Forte Village who share the same philosophies as us with a strong focus on the athletes and delivery of a high quality race experience for everyone involved.”
