Felt Bicycles confirms sponsored pro triathletes for 2014

Citing one of the ‘deepest and strongest rosters the company has ever had’, Felt Bicycles has confirmed its roster of pro triathletes for 2014.

The women’s side will be led by 2013 Ironman World Champion, Mirinda ‘Rinny’ Carfrae (AUS). Newly married and highly motivated to pick up where she left off after her record-setting Kona win last October, Rinny has already qualified for 2014 Ironman World Champs. She is now gearing up to tackle the new season by starting this spring with select 70.3 Ironman events and Challenge races, including a campaign that may involve a racing block in Europe.

Joining Rinny is the 2013 European 70.3 Ironman champion and returning Felt athlete, Daniela Ryf (SUI). Daniela’s focus for 2014 continues to be 70.3 events with an eye on select long distance Ironman races. Daniela is widely considered one of the best 70.3 athletes in the world and has her sights set on a top result in the 2014 Ironman 70.3 World Championships in September.

New on the women’s side for 2014 is the addition of Emma-Kate Lidbury (GBR). Emma-Kate, who is living in Southern California, turned a lot of heads in 2013 as a legitimate 70.3 talent and plans on an aggressive year-long schedule that will ultimately point towards the 2014 Ironman 70.3 World Championships.

The six-time 70.3 champion said “I am thrilled to join the Felt family and firmly believe riding for Felt is going to help me find my finest bike and racing form yet. There is no better company to be racing for and I look forward to pushing the bike – and myself – to its limits this season and achieving some great results.”

On the men’s side, Josh Amberger (AUS), who drew big attention and acclaim for both his blistering swims and bike riding strength, will return as a marquee 70.3 athlete. Josh will focus on continued growth as a complete triathlete and a full international race schedule.

“In 2013 I was one of the privileged few to experience the [Felt] IA for the first time,” he said. “I finished my season with two race victories on the new bike, which was amazing. I am proud to be part of the Felt family in 2014 and look forward to continued success.”

Also returning is Andi Boecherer (GER), one of triathlon’s top competitors and in particular, a strong bike rider. Andi was forced to cut his 2013 season short due to an ankle injury in Cozumel, Mexico, but he is now healthy, fit and focused—and determined to make an impact on 2014 as both a 70.3 and full distance Ironman elite pro.

Last but certainly not least, Tim Reed (AUS) joins Felt as its newest elite male athlete. Winner of the 2013 Ironman 70.3 Yeppoon and Challenge Forster, along with multiple career Ironman 70.3s, Tim is well-known as a complete triathlete who possesses the skill set more than capable of winning any given 70.3 or full distance Ironman. Tim will be competing in a full international schedule that includes both 70.3 and full distance Ironman events.

All Felt triathletes are riding the new 2014 Felt IA, billed as ‘the world’s fastest triathlon-specific bike’, as a core part of their training and racing equipment. They will also have the Felt DA and some combination of either a Felt F-series, AR-series and ZW-series road bike.
