IBI Group sponsors ITU World Triathlon Series Edmonton Grand Final

IBI Group – the global architecture, planning, engineering, and technology firm – is on board as an official sponsor of the TransCanada Corp World Triathlon Grand Final in Edmonton, Canada, which runs from 26 August through to 1 September.

IBI’s sponsorship includes creating site, technical course, and spectator maps for the event. A small architectural and graphics team has been working with the triathlon project team since November 2013 to produce these maps.

As a corporate sponsor IBI also receives individual and team entry spots for the Corporate Tri-a-Try and Sprint Triathlon Races.

“IBI Edmonton has participated in previous triathlon events in Edmonton in the past five years,” said John Byrne, IBI Group Director and office lead. “We are pleased to provide our continued support to this year’s TransCanada Corp World Triathlon Grand Final. With over 15 people participating from the Alberta offices we are looking forward to a great opportunity for some fun and team building.”

The Corporate Try-a-Tri on 31 August will be a unique event in which IBI Group employees can experience the excitement of competing on a world stage before settling in to watch the best triathletes in the world swim, bike, and run for a chance at the podium and the world champion crown.

Corporate event participants will have the opportunity to compete in the team relay where one person swims, one person cycles, and one person runs.

Edmonton last hosted the Grand Final Triathlon in 2001. In addition to the elite and paratriathlon races, the 2014 ITU World Triathlon Series (ITU WTS) Grand Final will showcase standard and sprint distance age group races, as well as an aquathlon, U23, junior and mixed relay world championships offering athletes the chance to compete in the same venue as the world’s elite athletes.
