IRONMAN Arizona continued its trend as one of the most popular triathlon events in the world with a record-setting sell-out for the 2015 event. For the first time at an American IRONMAN event, entries sold out on-site at IRONMAN Arizona 2014, which took place on Sunday 16 November 2014.
So, the 2015 IRONMAN Arizona event will not open for online general registration. This record hitting of capacity for the popular IM Arizona race follows a trend for rapid sell-outs of the event over the years. In 2012, general registration for Ironman Arizona 2013 filled in just 40 seconds.
Later on in the day, Ironman Foundation slots went on sale; and these also sold out. The rapid filling of Ironman Arizona 2013 follows a similar trend last year – when Ironman Arizona 2012 sold out in less than 10 minutes.
With its fast and flat course around Tempe Beach Park and Tempe Town Lake and spectator-friendly atmosphere, IRONMAN brand owner World Triathlon Corp (WTC) notes that IRONMAN Arizona is one of the most popular triathlon events in the world.
The cooler November race date implemented in 2008 makes it an attractive event for a wide range of triathletes who use the whole summer to train for the one-loop swim in Tempe Town Lake, the three-loop bike and the two-loop run that is jam-packed with supporters from start to finish.
The welcoming event is also extremely popular for first-time M-Dot racers—this year there were over 1,100 first-time competitors.
While the 2015 race has sold out for general entry, entries remain open for other IRONMAN events in the western United States and Canada including:
- IRONMAN Coeur d’Alene – 28 June 2015
- IRONMAN Canada – 26 July 2015
- IRONMAN Boulder – 2 August 2015
- IRONMAN Lake Tahoe – 20 September 2015
IRONMAN Foundation entries remain available for IRONMAN Arizona, but are likely to sell out quickly – last year the IRONMAN Foundation slots closed in just a few hours after becoming available.
