Triathlon England appoints Paul Gardner as new Director for Membership

Triathlon England has announced that Paul Gardner is to join the Triathlon England Management Board as the new Director for Membership after interviews and following recommendation from the Triathlon England Council.

Paul is relatively new to triathlon after a sporting career in athletics, basketball and tennis. Since his first start in 2005 he has represented Great Britain at age-group level at both World and European Championships.

Living in Hertfordshire, Paul combines his business interests with those of triathlon, being a qualified Level 2 Triathlon Coach with additional qualifications in open water swimming and running. At his local club, Hillingdon Triathletes, he is responsible for coach development and the technical swim and run programmes.

Additionally he sits on the Triathlon England South East Management Committee and runs the regional website and social media channels.

His management background includes an MBA and wide ranging commercial experience within customer and membership focused business models. He is currently a director of several small businesses spanning property, the internet and finance; and he was previously a board director of the government backed BBAA, the trade body for early stage finance.

He is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and is a qualified business analyst with the British Computer Society in addition to holding the CIM Diploma in Marketing.

Jem Lawson, Chair of the Triathlon England Management Board said “I’m really pleased to welcome Paul to the Management Board. I’m sure he will bring not only drive, enthusiasm and commitment to the post, but valuable experience and a range of innovative ideas that triathletes and other multisport enthusiasts will view as an obvious way forward to join Triathlon England.”

Paul will officially start his duties as Membership Director on 24 February 2014.
