The Triathlon Shop makes final of Britain’s Friendliest Business awards

10

The Triathlon Shop in Temple Quay, Bristol, has made the finals of a national competition to find Britain’s friendliest business. Run by Director Jon Burrage, the shop beat some stiff competition to become one of 20 finalists in the award sponsored by Liberis, one of the UK’s largest providers of small business funding.

If it wins, the Triathlon Shop will be crowned ‘Britain’s Friendliest Business’ and will receive a cash award of £10,000.

Each finalist now has to get as many Facebook Likes as possible as part of the final stage of the competition. The number of FB Likes received will be considered by the judges when they make their final decision on the winner. Triathletes can support via facebook.com/thetriathlonshop or on Twitter @LiberisUK using the hashtag #BFBiz… and on Facebook at facebook.com/BritainsFriendliestBiz.

The tri retailer impressed judges with a strong entry making the case as to why it should win. The Triathlon Shop holds free group runs and rides; and supports its customers in local races by going along to cheer them on. The team often train and race with their customers too.

The judges particularly liked the company’s customer ethos… “It is particularly important to be approachable and friendly in this sport because so many people are new to tri and nerves come with the territory,” said Jon Burrage, Director and co-owner of The Triathlon Shop.

“When someone visits our shop, it is less like a customer and salesperson but more two like-minded people talking about what they enjoy – it is a great balance.”

Paul Mildenstein, CEO of Liberis said, “We’ve been bowled over by the quality of entries and the obvious passion and devotion that Britain’s small businesses give to make sure their customers get the very best service. They should all be celebrated, but the Triathlon Shop really stood out. ”

Liberis is the UK’s largest provider of cash advances for small businesses, offering up ‘a refreshingly simple alternative to traditional finance.’ The finance company launched the competition to reward hard working small businesses who think of their customers first.

The award is based on Liberis’ own mission to provide business-friendly finance to small businesses – many of whom are struggling in the current tight credit environment. The company has to date provided over £60 million of funding to help small and medium sized businesses grow.

The winner and two runners up of Britain’s Friendliest Business competition will be announced at the end of February.

Having rapidly outgrown its present location near Temple Meads Station in Bristol, UK – independent swim, bike, run store The Triathlon Shop is to open a new custom designed store in the Harbourside area of Bristol in time for the 2014 triathlon season.
