Immediate Media, publisher of 220 Triathlon magazine and the organiser of the popular Triathlon Show following its acquisition last year, has cited the show as a roaring success – filling all three floors of Sandown Park in Surrey, UK.
The show welcomed an array of famous faces including Olympic Gold Medallist, Daley Thompson; six-time Ironman World Champion, Dave Scott; and Olympic Silver & Bronze Medallist swimmer, David Davies.
Over 110 exhibitors entertained a range of visitors from experienced triathletes to those just starting out in the world of swim, bike, run.
After visiting the show double Olympic gold medallist Daley Thompson, said “The show has a great atmosphere and it’s fantastic to see so many people of all ages so passionate about triathlon. I launched my own triathlon event in St Lucia last year so I’m really looking forward to being involved in the sport for many years to come.”
The 220 Theatre was a hub of activity with Ironman legend Dave Scott entertaining guests with tales of his famous battles with Mark Allen – whilst members of the new Dassi Elite Women’s Team launched during the show, and shared tips and tricks with visitors.
The Zoggs Swim Zone proved to be popular with two Endless Pools running hourly demonstrations by some of the UK’s top swim coaches. Show-goers were also able to jump in themselves and gain guidance on swim stroke and all-round swim improvements.
Visitors were also able to stretch their legs and enjoy the Surrey sunshine by taking part in Sunday’s 10K run. Evans Cycles sportives were also a popular activity for those wanting to hop on their bikes, with rides stretching out to 70 miles for some of the more adventurous riders on a dry, but chilly Saturday morning.
Hundreds of people also took advantage of free consultations and assessments throughout the show, with event coaching partner Tri Training Harder, Surrey Human Performance Institute and Sub 4 all proving popular with visitors.
The organisers are already looking forward to the next show, again taking place at Sandown Racecourse from 27 February to 1 March 2015. With its first show under their belt, the new organisers aim to ensure that the Triathlon Show will go from strength to strength.
