Twilight tri… with the 2014 Castle Triathlon Evening Sprint Series

The Castle Triathlon Series has announced two dates for this year’s mid-week Evening Sprint Series at the stunning Hever Castle, in Kent, and positioned as ‘the perfect way to warm up for the season and enjoy an evening racing in the countryside’

  • Thursday 5 June 2014
  • Wednesday 2 July 2014

An early bird 20% discount for the evening series will be valid until midnight on 26 February 2014.

Races are open for individuals and mixed teams, and will start at 17:30 GMT with the last wave setting off at 19:15 (seen as perfect for those working in the City of London!).

Distances on offer for the Evening Sprint Series include:

  • Sprint – 750m swim/20K cycle/5K run
  • Super sprint – 400m swim/20K cycle/4K run
  • Junior races (8-15 year olds)

Stunning countryside course
All adult triathletes start with an open water swim in the spectacular 38 acre Hever Castle Lake, transitioning into the cycle which will take place around the 20K circuit through the High Weald of Kent – an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty used on the Hever Castle Triathlon main event.

The run will then circumnavigate the estate and award winning castle grounds before making the dash to the finish beside the lake. Junior and Children’s races take place within the Castle grounds and swim in the same lake as the adults.

All for a good cause
The organisers are very pleased to have Hospice in the Weald as a local charity partner. They provide compassionate, individualised, holistic and supportive care for all patients with life-limiting illnesses, their carers and families.

As they are a local charity and not part of the NHS, they depend on the support of the community to help them fund their vital services and raise the £5 million needed every year to ensure these very necessary services can continue.

The Evening Sprint Series aims to offer a tri experience for all levels and abilities – from the elite performer wanting a well-organised sprint or super sprint triathlon to complement their training, through to an 8 year old doing their first triathlon or a competitor trying out the Hever Castle Triathlon course ahead of the flagship event in September.
