To offer an appropriate level of service to more than 20,000 participants and more than 100,000 visitors who, in just a few days, will arrive at Fréjus in southeastern France, the organizers of the Roc d’Azur mountain bike festival are not skimping.
Produced by A.S.O, the numbers for the iconic trail and MBK events on 7-11 October are impressive:
- More 20,000 participants, more than 100,000 visitors
- Nearly 300 exhibitors and 200 bikes to test at the Exhibition
- 10 tons of food supplies
- 50 countries represented
In order to offer the riders top-quality service at the 17 food stations, where there will be a few surprises, 10 tons of food supplies will be distributed as well as 50,000 litres of drinks.
Here the numbers become a little staggering: 3.5 tons of bananas, 2 tons of oranges, 700kg of grapes, 350kg of dates, 300kg of dried fruit, more than 23,000 biscuits, 10,000 cereal bars, 200kg of chocolate, 280kg of ginger bread, 350kg of madeleines, 360 kg of fruit jelly, 120kg of tapenade, 4,200 baguettes, 17,000 slices of dried sausage, 380 kg of cheese, etc!
This year, the ‘Grande Bastide’ producers will also offer 650 kg of apples; and for the first time on the Roc d’Azur, each day a giant omelette made with 3,000-6,000 eggs will be provided at the Port St Aygulf food station.
As for the organization, the tracks are now ready and the finishing touches are being made to the Fréjus François-Léotard Nature Base. The countdown for the 32nd Roc d’Azur is underway.
More than 20,000 mountain bike riders on the 28 events on the programme will share their passion on the 150km of trails and tracks of the ‘Massif des Maures’ where more than 100 firemen and nearly 900 volunteers will be on hand to assure safety.
With more than 100,000 visitors and almost 300 exhibitors spread out over 28,000m², the exhibition can also brag impressive numbers with more than 200 bikes available to test free of charge through the Roc Test Camp.
More than 20,000 enthusiasts have already entered at least one of the 28 events on the Roc d’Azur program. Several races are already full up. But not all is lost for the late arrivals; as long as they don’t wait much longer. Some places still remain in the Tri Roc, Roc Ruelles Roquebrune-sur-Argens, Roc Tandems, Rando Roc Rouge Déguisée, Electric Rando Roc, Kid Roc, 4, 6 and 8km, and Rando Roc Family.
