The 2015 edition of Challenge Weymouth, which this year doubled up as the ETU European Long Distance Championships is airing on Channel 4 TV on Saturday 26 September at 06:30 BST and on C4+1 at 07:30.
This week, the event was rebranded on its Facebook page – from Challenge UK to Tri Weymouth. This follows the recent parting of ways between Challenge Family and UK race organizer Just Racing. Going forwards, in 2016, the Weymouth event is understood to be continuing under its own steam, managed by Just Racing independent of the Challenge Family brand.
(Challenge Family will continue in the UK and Ireland with the full distance Challenge Galway on 26 June 2016 – together with its 14 races throughout Europe, with details of additional UK Challenge Family races to be announced shortly.)
As other UK venues are under review, this year’s Challenge Weymouth may perhaps be the last time that Challenge Family takes to Weymouth.
The 2105 Challenge Weymouth event started with a swim in the waters of Weymouth Bay, the 112 mile bike course took in the Dorset countryside before a 4 lap marathon run in Weymouth town centre, cheered on by thousands of spectators.
The TV broadcast will be aired thanks to a partnership between Channel 4 and production firm Dream Team Television.

- The World Mountain Running Championships – 3 October
- The Hever Castle Triathlon – 17 October
