The Natureman triathlon team has announced a new partnership with New Balance for the event, which takes place in Verdon, France. Specialised in sports shoes, Natureman notes that ‘New Balance is committed to many environmental and social actions in harmony with the values of the Natureman team.’

New Balance launched its production plants in Europe (Flimby in England) about 30 years ago. The brand maintains a large part of its production in Europe, ‘while many competitors relocated their production plants.’ 40% of these shoes are sold directly on the European market.

The Natureman team is particularly concerned with the label ‘Made in Europe’ associated with the quality of the brand’s products.

A release from Natureman adds that New Balance is also committed to a respectful approach to the environment in the process of design, development and manufacture of its products. The group seeks an ideal ‘zero waste’ policy and pays special attention to the choice of materials to prevent the utilisation of hazardous substances.

The brand tries to create completely recyclable/reusable products, generating no waste and no negative impact on the environment.

Taking place in the region surrounding the Verdon Gorge (Gorges du Verdon or Grand Canyon du Verdon), in south-eastern France (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence), the 2015 event on 2-4 October promises some stunning scenery.

The Verdon Gorge is a river canyon about 25 kilometres long and up to 700m deep. It was formed by the Verdon River, which is named after its startling turquoise-green colour, one of the canyon’s most distinguishing characteristics.

With ‘an exceptional natural setting, and 2,200 athletes expected in 2015’, the organisers go on to point out that Natureman 2015 combines both a sports challenge and a discovery of the unique landscape, in an energy and atmosphere ‘like nowhere else’.
