Having opened pre-registration this May, on 1 June 2015 the official start of registration for Challenge Regensburg 2016 will kick-off. As one of Germany’s newest long distance races, Challenge Regensburg, taking place on 14 August 2016, is a sister event to the legendary DATEV Challenge Roth, which runs in July.
According to Challenge Family, the interest in the new long-distance event in Bavaria, Germany, is already enormous. Several hundred athletes have pre-registered within the past four weeks – all looking forward to 14 August 2016 when the starting signal will sound at Lake Guggenberger.
During the event, athletes will bike 180K through the beautiful landscape of the Regensburg district and run a marathon in the heart of the World Heritage City of Regensburg. The finish in front of the impressive cathedral will surely be the highlight of the day.
Challenge Family adds that it’s not only the high number of pre-registrations that show a huge response to the announcement of Challenge Regensburg. The first on-course training sessions have also been a success. “On Whit-Monday, almost 100 athletes of all ages and levels joined our guided tour over the bike course. This absolutely exceeded our expectations,” said race organizer Tom Tajsich.
Another reason for age group athletes to look forward to the race is the first announcement of an international star. Australian Chris ‘Macca’ McCormack will be racing Challenge Regensburg in August 2016. “I’ve been to Regensburg many times and it’s an absolutely stunning place to race” said the four-time World Champion. “I can’t wait to get back there to enjoy the Bavarian hospitality and spectacular course.”
While pre-registered athletes will receive their personal link to the registration for Challenge Regensburg via email and will have their race entry guaranteed, the official registration for the general public will start on 1 June 2015 at en.challenge-regensburg.com/anmeldung.
