New event company RaceMakers is aiming to strengthen and ensure the future of Challenge Denmark, and at the same time increase the number of international competitions in its portfolio. RaceMakers was founded by the Event Director of Challenge Denmark, Claus Vesterby, and the owner of online multisport retailer triudstyr.dk, Jacob Sonne-Schmidt.
RaceMakers notes that it will work with a ‘targeted international perspective and has more exciting news on the way.’
The recently announced Challenge Tønsberg 2016 in Norway is ‘one of the results of the newly formed company RaceMakers; and the organizer notes that ‘there is much more to come.’
RaceMakers is based in the Danish city of Herning on the Jutland peninsula. It will be responsible for the daily operation of Challenge Denmark and Challenge Norway, and ‘a number of other triathlon related activities.’ RaceMakers adds that one of the most significant parts of the new company will be selling race supplies and merchandise to other Challenge Family events around Europe.
The cooperation between Claus Vesterby and Jacob Sonne-Schmidt began with Challenge Billund-Herning 2015 – and the event’s unique focus around Legoland Billund Resort in Denmark.
“Jacob was a strong partner in the organization of Challenge Billund-Herning, where he stood with the primary responsibility for all our race supplies and merchandise for the race,” said Claus Vesterby.
“It worked so well that it seemed like a natural progression that we are starting a business together. Our cooperation has already passed its first tests, and we both have great confidence and expectation of what we can do with RaceMakers.”
He continued, “With RaceMakers we can gather more activities in one company, and thus a stronger position on the international triathlon market. The establishment of RaceMakers is part of a larger business to ensure Challenge Denmark economically, while ensuring that we can hold triathlon events with a high level of quality – year after year.”
“Right now our race supply and merchandise initiatives are being presented to rallies around Europe, and we have several international initiatives for later this year,” revealed Jacob Sonne-Schmidt.
With the establishment of the new company, the workforce has also grown, and the intention is that all employees in the company will be working with all activities that are now gathered under the RaceMakers and Challenge Family banner.
