Recon Instruments, an Intel company, has announced new, reduced pricing for Recon Jet, which is billed as the world’s most advanced smart eyewear for sports and high-intensity environments. In the United States, Jet is now available for US$499. In other countries, Jet can now be purchased for €499, £360, CHF 469, C$660, AU$799, or ¥60,000.
“As part of Intel, we have added resources to broaden the reach of our technology,” said Dan Eisenhardt, co-founder of Recon Instruments. “Thanks to this price reduction, more athletes and fitness enthusiasts will be able to enjoy the competitive training advantage that Recon Jet enables.”
As a show of gratitude to early adopters for their support, Recon will also be offering price-adjustment refunds to customers who purchased or pre-ordered Recon Jet for a higher price prior to this latest pricing announcement.
Eligible customers will receive an e-mail from Recon with instructions on how to receive their refund. Eligible customers who do not receive an e-mail should contact Recon Customer Support via support[at]reconinstruments.com.
Recon Jet is positioned as an advanced smart eyewear solution for sports and high-intensity environments. Featuring a dual-core processor, high-contrast display, and point-of-view camera, Jet connects to leading smartphones and fitness sensors, delivering contextually relevant information just below the user’s right eye.
Jet’s modular design allows users to swap in optional accessory lenses and spare batteries on the go, allowing for ‘prolonged use at any hour, in any weather.’
With an Android-based operating system and an open SDK, Recon Jet also makes it easy for third-party developers to create apps. Already, apps available from Recon’s App Center leverage Jet’s capabilities to control GoPro cameras, provide real-time nutrition and hydration instructions, and enhance a number of other activities, including sailing and aviation.
