Triathlon Business International (TBI), the industry organization dedicated to promoting the sport and business of triathlon, has today announced that Strava’s Vice President of Strategy and Business Development, David Lorsch, will join the line-up of keynote speakers at the 6th annual TBI Conference, which takes place on 24-26 January, in Marina del Rey, California.

Lorsch, who was previously at Calera Capital and Competitor Group, is responsible for driving Strava’s business development with mobile app platforms, device companies, other applications, brands and events. He will talk about the dynamic space where technology and athletic performance intersect, and what it means for the endurance industry.

He’ll discuss the trends he sees from his position as one of the industry leaders and how triathlon can take advantage of them.

Currently focused on the needs of avid cyclists and runners, Strava lets users track rides and runs via iPhone, Android or a dedicated GPS device (e.g. Garmin, TomTom, Fitbit) to analyze and quantify their performance, as well as make fitness a social activity.

As a release from TBI notes… ‘How can everyone in the business of triathlon use the latest technology for their benefit? It’s one of the trending aspects of change the TBI Conference will explore.’

The TBI Conference will be full of information, opportunities and networking for everyone in the business and sport of triathlon. The strapline for the industry gathering is: ‘This is where the business of triathlon will get done.’

There will be panels for multisport retailers and manufacturers, and the highly popular Race Director’s track will continue from last year, focusing on the issues and needs of this segmented group of industry professionals. More speakers and content will be announced in the coming weeks.

The Ron Smith Awards Celebration reception and dinner on Monday night includes the announcement of the Ron Smith Award winner, the Steve Hed Award winner; and other awards in the event, retailer, manufacturer and media categories.
