Summer sports action is heating up on Universal Sports Network. Over the next three months, the year-round destination for Olympic, endurance and action sports programming continues its 2015 World Championship Year showcasing many of the world’s best athletes competing in their sports’ world championships.
In 2015, Universal Sports is the home to more than 25 world championships and will air more than 40 sports.
Kicking off the network’s summer world championship programming slate are the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships in the Netherlands from 2-5 July. July is also highlighted by the FINA World Aquatics Championships in Kazan, Russia from 25 July to 9 August, which feature swimming, synchronized swimming, diving and water polo events. In August, track & field stars take center stage at the IAAF World Championships in Athletics in Beijing, China from 22-30 August.
Capping what is sure to be an exciting summer are two events set to take place on US soil. From 15-19 September, Chicago will host the ITU World Triathlon Grand Final and World Championships, and from 19-27 September, Richmond, Virgina, will host the UCI Road Cycling World Championships.
“From swimming and track & field to triathlon and cycling, our world championship lineup places a spotlight on Olympic sports outside of the Olympics themselves as we look ahead to the 2016 Rio Games and beyond,” said Universal Sports Network President Scott Brown.
Summer programming will fall into autumn with the highly-anticipated Rugby World Cup. The six-week tournament will be hosted by England from 18 September to 31 October.
