Swimmo, a smartwatch and personal swimming coach, has shattered its original Kickstarter goal by reaching US$100,000 in funding. This high tech, waterproof smartwatch – positioned as being ideal for professionals, casual swimmers tri-athletes or anyone seeking to improve their body shape– offers personalized training and real time progress to swimmers.
A unique vibration alerts when to increase or decrease speed, so users remain in their ideal training zones. Swimmo also measures distance, pace, calorie and heart rate.
Stroke Count, Stroke Rate, SWOLF, and Stroke Type are all stroke statistics used by the pros that are now unlocked for users. The new company notes that Open Water Swim Mode is next in the lineup at the US$150,000 funding mark, and will allow Swimmo to learn from users’ previous training about stroke length and will use an algorithm to extrapolate that in open water mode.
Stats and Stroke Details now unlocked following Swimmo reaching $100,000 in Kickstart funding, the third of five stretch goals towards product advancement.
At US$250,000 in funding, the final Swimmo features will be available, and Pro Interval Training will be unlocked to improve body shape and strength through an interval training plan that will monitor and measure progress and give feedback when needed.
Swimmo is currently being offered on Kickstarter at the discounted rate of US$169 (estimated MSRP US$230). The first 29 backers will be able to pre-order the smartwatch for a special early bird pledge rate of US$149. Backers should begin to receiving their smartwatches in October 2015.
