Triathlon, ‘the largest multisport magazine in Europe’, recently named its top 10 most influential people in the sport for its February 2016 issue. Pacific Sports President and CEO Jack Caress was one of those honourees included in the list.
Sharing this honour with Jack Caress, the list included some of the top names in the sport: Marisol Casado, Felix Walchsöfer, Brett Sutton, Prince Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Andrew Messick, Jan Frodeno, Dan Empfield, Wang Jianlian and Philippe Blatter.
In the article, Triathlon Magazine gives a brief summary as to why each candidate was chosen for this list. The excerpt on Jack Caress focused on his efforts as five-time President of Triathlon Business International (TBI).
The entry for Jack Caress, USA stated – Competition is good for business – and that applies not only to the triathlon distances, but also around it. The triathlon industry is like a hornet’s nest, particularly in narrow specialized segments such as time trial bikes or wetsuits. One man has tried to organize this chaos – every year in January, the most important players of the sport from industry, associations, the organizer scene and the media meet the three-day exchange in Los Angeles. Five times Jack Caress has been elected President of the organization Triathlon Business International.
Frank Wechsel, publisher of Triathlon went on to say, “Triathlon is not only a fast growing sport, but also a fast growing industry with a lot of professional athletes, coaches, event organizers, federations, manufacturers, retailers, and media. Jack Caress managed to bring them together at the beginning of every year to discuss the most important topics at the TBI conference and remind all the players that we have a common goal: to grow the sport that we like so much”.
When notified by the magazine of his inclusion in the list, Jack Caress stated, “I am deeply honoured to be named to the top 10 most influential people in sport of triathlon. Triathlon is a very prestigious magazine, and to be named along with such an elite group of people is truly special.”
