Running USA, the national trade organization of the running industry, has announced Portland-based performance apparel company Greenlayer as its Official Merchandising and Sustainability Partner.
Since 2007, Greenlayer has focused on creating ‘unique apparel solutions for events and organizations, with a specific focus on high performance, active lifestyle apparel’. Greenlayer continues to focus on leading an environmentally-friendly company, while distinguishing the Greenlayer brand in a competitive marketplace through ‘a heavy focus on designing apparel that consumers and race directors are proud to wear on a year-round basis’.
“We are proud to add Greenlayer as an active partner of Running USA,” said Rich Harshbarger, Running USA CEO. “As the official merchandising and sustainability partner; Greenlayer will help convert finisher shirts and merchandise to more sustainable options through offsetting the costs to the races, and will help events by profit sharing proceeds from sales of their popular custom merchandise during and after their event.”
He continued, “As an industry, we need to strive to innovate and develop new experiences, which is why we’re so excited to partner with Greenlayer.”
As an added membership benefit, Greenlayer is offering preferred and discounted pricing to Running USA members.
“Greenlayer has been passionate about designing and using sustainable fabrics since our beginnings in 2007,” stated Greenlayer President, Kim Bilancio. “We are excited to partner with Running USA and by their shared enthusiasm for providing up-graded apparel and more sustainable options for the race directors and runners. The Running industry experienced exponential growth over the past couple decades across both the road and now the obstacle course type events.
“With that growth, there is a greater environmental impact and we are glad to see the industry advocating for increased sustainability. Greenlayer’s unique product offering and manufacturing abilities have made us a leader in the industry and a favorite amongst athletes.”
Running USA is a tax-exempt, not-for-profit organization devoted to improving the status and experience of distance running and racing in the United States through ‘collective marketing and promotions, information and communications within the industry and to the national media, services to events and industry members, and the development of American world class stars.’
The organization adds that it seeks the advancement of the sport and the provision of value to each of its members’ events and businesses.
