Nature takes its course: Triathlon at Pacific Grove

Triathlon at Pacific Grove swim start

With a swim from Lovers Point Beach, a ride through Pebble Beach, and a trail run leading to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, the Triathlon at Pacific Grove offers ‘one of the most breath-taking courses triathlon has to offer’.

On the weekend of 11-12 June, Tri-California Events will host Olympic and Sprint distance races as well as a 5K and 10K, all taking place along ‘gorgeous coastal vistas’. Tri-California Events adds that the Triathlon at Pacific Grove has been a destination race for many elite and amateur triathletes simply for the opportunity to race on its stunning California coastline.

Because the Triathlon at Pacific Grove is one of the most scenic triathlons in the world, it continues to gain recognition for its course. Both The Examiner.com, and the world’s largest travel website, TripAdvisor, ranked Pacific Grove as one of the top ten race venues in California.

“Pacific Grove is a special place and we are lucky to be able to host a race against such a spectacular backdrop,” said Terry Davis, Tri-California CEO and local resident.

The race starts with the famous Lovers Point swim that takes place alongside ‘clapping sea otters and orange flashes from the garibaldi fish floating below’. The bike course leads riders along a stunning coastline with views of the world-renowned Pebble Beach golf course. Finally, a flat-looped, fast trail run stretches along the coast to Monterey Bay Aquarium and back: ‘offering spectacular scenery for the entire course’.

Tri-California Events adds that spectators will not only enjoy the natural beauty of this venue but can also marvel at the natural talent of the sport’s professional athletes as they compete for the win in the Elite division race held on Saturday afternoon.

The Triathlon at Pacific Grove is positioned as being ideal for the beginner or seasoned triathlete. Athletes can choose from an Olympic Distance Triathlon (1.5K swim, a 40K bike and a 10K run), a Sprint Distance Triathlon (0.25 mile swim, a 12.4 mile bike and a 2 mile run) and a 5K Walk/Run & 10K Run.

Tri-California Events is an event management company producing triathlon, swimming and running races throughout California including the Wildflower Triathlons, San Francisco Triathlon at Alcatraz, Alcatraz Challenge Aquathlon & Swim, The Triathlon at Pacific Grove, and Scott Tinley’s Triathlon.

In addition, Tri-California serves as the race production company for the former Nike Women’s Half-Marathon and The San Francisco Giant Race. At Tri-California, the company’s goal is to motivate individuals of all ages and fitness levels to lead a healthier lifestyle by ‘exercising with purpose’ and participating in an endurance race.
