Columbia Threadneedle Investments has extended its title sponsorship of the Columbia Threadneedle Investments Boston Triathlon. This is the second year the Boston-based asset management firm has been a partner of this community event, which is expected to attract more than 1,500 participants in 2017.

The Boston Triathlon event debuted in 2009. It combines a swim at Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation’s (DCR) Carson Beach, a bike ride on DCR William Day Boulevard, and a run along the South Boston waterfront. Both Olympic and sprint distance events will be held, as well as a children’s race, the Kids’ Splash-and-Dash.

“We are pleased to partner with the City of Boston and the Boston Triathlon and to make this investment in the greater Boston community,” said Ted Truscott, CEO of Columbia Threadneedle Investments. “Triathletes from Boston, New England and beyond demonstrate consistency, determination and fortitude in achieving their long-term goals. We find that these values mirror those that drive us as we work to help our individual and institutional clients achieve their investment goals.”

Columbia Threadneedle is working closely with the event’s charity partner, Boston Medical Center, the largest safety-net hospital and busiest provider of trauma and emergency services in New England. Charitable money raised through the event will go towards BMC’s adolescent, young adult and adult addiction programs.

Columbia Threadneedle is a long-standing supporter of the sport of triathlon. In addition to the Boston Triathlon, the firm sponsors the Columbia Threadneedle World Triathlon Leeds, scheduled to take place on 10-11 June in Leeds, Yorkshire, UK, and the Columbia Threadneedle Yilan Triathlon Championships, on 2-3 September in Yilan, Taiwan.

“Columbia Threadneedle Investment’s sponsorship of the Boston Triathlon is incredibly important, helping us ensure the event remains accessible to all racers, both professional and first time triathlon participants,” said Michael O’Neil, Boston Triathlon Event Director. “We are proud to be working with both Columbia Threadneedle Investments and Boston Medical Center in creating a world-class experience here in Boston, while fulfilling our commitment to positively impacting the local community. We are looking forward to an incredible event.”
