Triathlon Business International (TBI) has announced that United States Congresswoman (AZ, 9th District) Kyrsten Sinema will join USA Triathlon CEO Rocky Harris as a key speaker at the 8th annual TBI Conference, taking place on 26-28 January in Tempe, Arizona. Sinema – who opened the 2016 TBI Conference with a very high post-conference survey rating – will speak during the Friday afternoon session.
Congresswoman Sinema is the first sitting member of Congress to complete an IRONMAN and currently serves on the House Committee on Financial Services. A self-described ‘average athlete’, Sinema competed in her first full triathlon in 2013, IRONMAN Arizona, on a course that runs through the area she represents in Congress. In October 2015, she completed the IRONMAN World Championship, and has competed in numerous sprint, Olympic and half-Iron distance triathlons.
“Triathlon is my oxygen – no matter what is happening in my life or the world around me, triathlon keeps me grounded and reminds me that I can do anything,” said Sinema. “I am a better, stronger person because of triathlon.”
In early 2015 Sinema was invited to join the Women for Tri Board of Advisors and participate in achieving the goal of changing the landscape of triathlon for women. She currently serves as president of the Board of Advisors for the organization.
The 2018 TBI Conference will be packed full of information and opportunities for everyone involved in the business and sport of triathlon.
