The Multisport Festival is positioned as a major 10-day celebration of triathlon that will see triathletes from all over the world vying for six different multisport titles. Elite athletes will be joined by age groupers, as there are open races in all six categories. Athletes can choose from every race option at the festival: aquathlon, aquabike, cross triathlon, sprint duathlon, standard duathlon and long distance triathlon. And age groupers will race on the same course as the World Championship race.

The International Triathlon Union (ITU) notes that the city of Penticton has much to offer athletes, spectators and visitors from all around the world. ITU adds that ‘Penticton is a dream location for the discerning tourist, a literal outdoor playground with gourmet restaurants, hundreds of wineries and craft breweries, great shopping and recreation at every turn.’

A Kids Triathlon is also being offered on Saturday 26 August as part of the ten-day festival. Here, children aged 3 -15 have a chance to participate in a shortened swim, bike and run in the heart of Penticton and finish by running the blue carpet under the World Championship finish line. All kids receive a bib number, t-shirt and finisher medal.

The 10-day Multisport World Championships is expected to see more than 7,000 age groupers race in the heart of Penticton n British Columbia, with the epicentre being along the beachfront of Okanagan Lake and Okanagan Lake Park. The spectator friendly courses will feature a variety of terrain and include some of the area’s many vistas, wineries and landmarks, as well as the downtown area.

All participants and visitors will enjoy a full week of triathlon action, as well as concerts, street dance, a race expo, parade of nations and awards presentations.
