Infront Germany is starting the new year with a second Managing Director and a new corporate structure. Marco Sautner joins Reinhardt Weinberger at the forefront of the German subsidiary of Infront Sports & Media with immediate effect. Furthermore, Infront Germany notes that it is ‘undergoing structural changes due to strong company growth and more complex market conditions’.
This latest restructuring at Infront’s German subsidiary follows last year’s senior management changes at Infront Italy. As a major international sports marketing firm and rights holder, Infront covers all aspects of sporting events, including distribution of media rights, sponsorship, media production and event operation. It was integrated with IRONMAN, back in late 2015, as part of the then formed entity Wanda Sports Holding.
New dual leadership with Weinberger and Sautner
A release from Infront notes that ‘In order to meet the dynamic developments of the past few years, Infront Germany is now under the dual leadership of Managing Director Reinhardt Weinberger as well as Marco Sautner – previously Director of Marketing & Sales at Infront Germany – who complements the subsidiary management as an equal-ranking Managing Director’.
Three Business Units: Marketing & Business Development, Sales and Finance & Administration
In addition, there are also structural and organisational changes at the secondary level of the subsidiary in Germany. There are now three business units with Infront Germany aligning itself more strongly with the market and subsequent customer requirements.
Marketing & Business Development: Under the leadership of Director Stephanus Tekle, the new Marketing & Business Development unit covers topics such as market insights, digital, communication and business development. This area will also serve as an innovation hub and advisory unit for customers and partners, ‘especially as a result of digitalisation’.
Sales: As Director Sales, Achim Morlok assumes coordination and control of the new Sales business unit. Regional responsibilities have also been created to strengthen the distribution across Infront Germany’s portfolio of properties and connect projects more closely.
Finance & Administration: The third business unit continues to be under the responsibility of Director Oliver Prenger, who, together with Reinhardt Weinberger and Marco Sautner, completes the management of Infront Germany.
Addressing dynamic industry developments
Reinhardt Weinberger, Managing Director of Infront Germany since 2007 said, “Our industry continues to develop dynamically and is growing rapidly – internal changes are the logical consequence. As a leading company in the sports industry, we aim to actively shape the market and create the necessary prerequisites – both in terms of content as well as structure. With our new organisational structure and the corresponding responsibilities, we are well prepared for upcoming challenges.”
Marco Sautner, new Managing Director of Infront Germany added, “I am looking forward to my new role within the company and an exciting year 2017. With the changes in the company, we want to set the course for the future and develop our position as a leading sports marketing company even more.”
Infront Sports & Media is led by President & CEO Philippe Blatter, and covers all aspects of sporting events – including distribution of media rights, sponsorship, media production and event operation. As ‘the number one player in winter sport and with a leading role in football, summer and endurance sports’, Infront enjoys long-lasting partnerships with 170 rights-holders and hundreds of sponsors and media companies.
Headquartered in Zug, Switzerland, Infront has a team of more than 900 experienced staff working from over 35 offices across more than 15 countries, delivering ‘4,100 event days of top class sport around the world every year’. In November 2015, Infront was integrated into Wanda Sports Holding, part of the Chinese conglomerate the Dalian Wanda Group.
Wanda Sports Holding is positioned as ‘the world’s leading sports business entity’, founded to capture the opportunities in the global sports industry and to contribute to the prosperous international sports landscape – in three key areas: 1) Spectator Sports (media & marketing business), 2) Participation Sports (active lifestyle business), 3) Services (digital, production and service business).
Led by President & CEO Philippe Blatter, Wanda Sports Holding incorporates the international sports marketing company Infront Sports & Media, the endurance brand IRONMAN, and Wanda Sports China. The company’s headquarters are in Guangzhou, China.
