Entries for the Cardiff Triathlon 2018 are now open. In 2017, the organising team at Always Aim High Events saw a record 1,300 triathletes from across the globe take part in this fast city-based event; and ‘this number looks set to double in 2018’. The triathlon, now in its fourth year, offers up a technical and fast race on completely closed roads.
Centring around Roald Dahl Plass in the heart of Cardiff Bay, the race kicks off with a swim in the Bay. This is followed by a fast, lapped cycle through the local streets, including a sprint along Lloyd George Avenue on roads closed to traffic. The race finishes off with a bracing run past landmarks such as the Norwegian Church, y Senedd, the Doctor Who experience and out onto the Cardiff Bay barrage.
Competitors then return to the Plass where they cross the finish line under the shadow of the Wales Millennium Centre in front of thousands of spectators and supporters.
