The TOUGHMAN Series is continuing to build momentum, as its second Chile race location, TOUGHMAN Chile Quillon, gets set for 29 October 2017 – and a live broadcast of the TOUGHMAN NY Championship event is confirmed for Sunday 17 September 2017.

The series is now comprised of 19 locations in North and South America, with more locations and more partnerships set to be announced in the coming weeks. The organising team note that, having a larger footprint in South America allows athletes from the southern hemisphere the opportunity to compete for qualifying spots to race at next year’s New York Championship 2018.

This year’s TOUGHMAN NY Championship event on 17 September 2017 will be live broadcast in partnership with Lava Magazine, TriathlonWorld.com and Fitter Radio – with an edited show to be scheduled on the Olympic Sports Network in the autumn/fall. Kevin Mackinnon of TriathlonWorld.com and Jurgen Sessner of TriLive will be producing the digital show, which will follow the lead male and female athletes all day as well as age groupers with compelling life stories who will be racing.

TOUGHMAN founder Rich Izzo said “The way forward for all independent brands is to join a brand like us so that as a unit we can give the athletes a standard, safe, great race experience as well as attract major sponsorships to support each race through our increased leverage. For 2017, we have partnerships with Morgan Stanley, Lava Magazine, Fitter Radio, Babbittville Radio, Normatec, Clif Bar, Marmot and a host of local NY sponsors like Brickell Cycles.”

He continued, “Having a New York Championship event as the goal for racers to qualify to race makes racing a bit more exciting. Over 100 age group qualifiers from each race will receive invitations for the TOUGHMAN Half Iron International Championship on 17 September in New York where they will compete for a cash purse of US$4950. Athletes in the open division will compete for over US$30,000 worth of awards.

Friends, family and triathlon fans can tune in to lavamagazine.com, TriathlonWorld.com and Fitter Radio on race day Sunday 17 September at 07:00 ET to get race coverage.

The series’ TOUGHMAN Championship in Stony Point ,New York, (just 20 miles north of NYC), gets 1400 volunteers and has a scenic bike course with over US$30,000 worth of age group awards as well as a US$4950 cash purse (top 5) for qualifiers.
