HOKA ONE ONE, a division of Deckers Brands, has bolstered its sponsored athlete roster with the signing of triathlete Kirsten Kasper and ultrarunner Tim Freriks.
“Both Kirsten and Tim have made waves and demonstrated even bigger potential on the world stage of triathlon and trail ultrarunning, respectively,” said Mike McManus, Senior Sports Marketing Manager at HOKA ONE ONE. “We are thrilled to have them on the roster as they work to become some of the very best in their sports.”
Currently ranked third in the ITU World Triathlon Series, Kirsten Kasper is a member of the winning 2016 World Championship mixed team relay. She was named as both the 2014 USA Triathlon Rookie of the Year and as an alternate for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games team. Her goal is to make the 2020 US Olympic Team. She will race in the World Triathlon Series on 15 July 2017 in Hamburg, Germany, followed by races in Edmonton on 29 July, Montreal on 5 August, and at the Huelva World Cup on 24 September. She ran collegiately at Georgetown University, where she was a member of the 2011 national champion cross country team, and boasts PRs of 4:44 for the mile and 16:13 for the 5K.
Breaking onto the ultra scene with a strong runner-up performance at the Lake Sonoma 50 Mile in 2016, Tim Freriks further shook the ultra world by taking down a world-class field at Transvulcania, a gruelling 73.3K skyrace on Spain’s La Palma Island, in May. Prior to racing trails, Tim ran track at Northern Arizona University, where he ran as fast as 14:03 for the 5K and 29:31 for the 10K. Currently based in Flagstaff, Arizona, Tim is slated to race at Broken Arrow 52K on 17 June, Run Rabbit Run 100-Miler on 8 September, and The North Face 50 Mile in San Francisco on 18 November.
HOKA ONE ONE is billed as ‘the fastest growing, premium running shoe brand in the world’. Two life-long runners launched HOKA in 2009, after years spent handcrafting and shaping lightweight shoes with extra-thick midsoles. Initially embraced by ultrarunners because of their enhanced cushioning and inherent stability, HOKA now offers shoes for all types of athletes who enjoy the unique ride the shoes provide.
