IRONMAN has announced ICY HOT as the title sponsor of the 2017 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship, as well as the Official Pain Relief partner for the event. The ICY HOT IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship will take place in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on 9-10 September welcoming athletes from 90 countries, regions and territories around the world.
ICY HOT offers a wide range of topical pain relief products, ‘providing millions of people with fast, long lasting relief that will certainly be of benefit to IRONMAN triathletes’.
”We are excited to partner with the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship that is taking place in the city we call home,” said Robert Long, Head of Sanofi Consumer Healthcare North America, the organisation behind the ICY HOT pain relief brand. “The partnership is such a natural fit for ICY HOT because top triathletes need to remain active, and can’t let pain slow them down. ICY HOT provides fast relief that they can feel working.”
Approximately 4,500 of the world’s top athletes will be competing in the ICY HOT IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship. As the Official Pain Relief partner of the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship, ICY HOT will be providing product to all competitors, as well as to spectators.
“ICY HOT has a long history of providing pain relief for all types of athletes, especially those who take on endurance events,” said Matthieu Van Veen, Chief Revenue Officer for IRONMAN. “This year’s IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship is a historic event with it being the largest athlete field ever for any IRONMAN or IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon and also brings the first two-day format for the world championship. We are thrilled that ICY HOT is partnering with IRONMAN around this significant event and providing a great benefit to our world-class athletes.”
This year’s event marks the return to US soil for the first time in four years. IRONMAN has produced this world championship event since 2006, with global rotation beginning in 2014 in Mont-Tremblant, Quebec, Canada.
The 2017 field of athletes will tackle a 1.2-mile (1.9 km) swim in the Tennessee River, followed by a 56-mile (90 km) bicycle ride through Lookout Mountain and into downtown Chattanooga, capped with a 13.1-mile (21 km) run through Downtown Chattanooga along the Tennessee Riverwalk and Riverfront Parkway, finishing at Ross’s landing – all of which must be completed before an eight-hour cut-off time.
