Live streaming for Garmin Challenge Herning in Denmark

Challenge Billund-Herning 2016

This year’s Garmin Challenge Herning in Denmark, the venue for the 2017 ETU European Half Distance Triathlon Championships has a range of activities in the mix. Building on the recently confirmed participation of Craig ‘Crowie’ Alexander, the event organising team has also confirmed that there will be live streaming on 10 June – starting at 10:00 CET, for those who are not able to be in Herning.

The Garmin Challenge Herning team is looking forward to welcoming 2,000 athletes from 34 different nations. The producer of the live streaming production is local firm Malstrøm, which will have 20-25 people engaged in the production on race day, shooting and mixing pictures and sound from various camera directions:

  • During the swim, there will be footage by air, water and from the ground
  • On the bike and run course, athletes will be followed primarily by motorcycles as well as fixed camera positions on the course
  • The finish area is covered with ENG (electronic news-gathering) cameras, and there will be a studio for commentating the entire race
  • Also, at the finish area, former pro athletes Thorbjørn Sindballe and Dirk Bockel will be guiding spectators and firing up the athletes
