It’s that eclectic mix that creates such a unique atmosphere and it such a special race.”
The UKFast City of Salford 10k route takes in some of Salford’s most iconic sights, including MediaCityUK itself, The Imperial War Museum, Coronation Street Studios and the Old Trafford football stadium. Supporters turned out in force around the route to cheer on the participants – many of whom were out to set a personal best, raise money for charity or simply to enjoy the atmosphere.
Altrincham & District AC’s Mohammad Aburezeq took the title as this year’s male winner, completing the 10k course in a blistering 30 minutes and 29 seconds, pipping Iraitz Arrospide from City of Sheffield & Dearne into second place in a time of 30. Salford’s own Craig Keatley was this year’s wackiest entrant, completing the course twice wearing a pair of flippers, which formed part of his training for a coast-to-coast challenge in aid of The Christie. The Christie themselves were one of three official charities at this years event, alongside Key 103’s Cash For Kids and The Diane Modahl Sports Foundation.
