In a move aimed at bringing together nutritional science, testing and products for athlete performance, Thorne Research and ALTIS have announced a partnership for 2018. As the exclusive nutritional supplement provider for ALTIS and its training and coaching program for elite track & field athletes, Thorne will provide products, educational materials, testing and integration within education and coaching programs.
“The success of all track & field athletes is measured in milliseconds and inches, where every advantage counts, and Thorne is equally excited and privileged to partner with ALTIS in helping their athletes achieve their performance goals,” said Thorne CEO, Paul Jacobson.
“Our recent partnership with Drawbridge Health, in addition to our testing platform WellnessFX, will allow Thorne and ALTIS to gain invaluable insight into the metrics and data assessment needed to understand how to maximize optimal performance for these elite athletes.”
Thorne’s product portfolio for ALTIS includes those that are NSF Certified for Sport, which ensures product purity and that the products do not contain unsafe levels of contaminants and are free of more than 200 banned or prohibited substances. The NSF Certified for Sport program is recognized by the NFL, MLB, NHL, PGA, LPGA, and Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sports.
“Our partnership with Thorne will assure that ALTIS athletes are receiving high quality, safe, clean, carefully monitored and tested nutritional supplements,” said ALTIS Performance Director Stuart McMillan. “In addition, the exciting testing insights Thorne can provide will allow ALTIS coaches and athletes the ability to gain a perspective on performance that is unparalleled in our sport.”
Thorne, a nutritional supplements partner to USA Triathlon along with other national governing bodies, confirmed in November that Mitsui, one of Japan’s largest trading companies and part of the Mitsui Group, has made a strategic investment in Thorne, with the purpose of expanding business in the United States and Japan.
The investment will reportedly allow Thorne to dramatically expand its US platform. The company adds that this investment paves the way for Thorne to broaden its reach in personalized health care by expanding into home testing platforms. Utilizing its large health care practitioner network, its research and content collaboration with Mayo Clinic, and its analytical software, Thorne’s goal is to become the market leader in bringing prevention and wellness into the homes of consumers in 2018.
The partnership with USA Triathlon, which runs through April 2019, provides support to the USA Triathlon and USA Paratriathlon National Team Programs, including nutritional supplement products with the highest level of certification by NSF International, baseline prevention and wellness markers consisting of blood, microbiome and genetic testing through WellnessFX, and educational materials.
