United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Cleveland has honoured Pacific Sports and the Cleveland Triathlon with a special award celebrating a partnership that has spanned a decade and raised over US$1 million in support of UCP of Greater Cleveland.
As the official charity of the Cleveland Triathlon, UCP has worked closely with Pacific Sports over the years in utilizing the event in the city of Cleveland as a tool to raise funds, bring awareness and bring joy to children and adults with disabilities.
Pacific Sports Owner & CEO Jack Caress who was there to receive the award said, “Our relationship with UCP of Greater Cleveland has positively changed the personality and the atmosphere of the Cleveland Triathlon. It has served to benefit not only the fundraising of UCP but enriched the experience of every participant and volunteer of the event the past 10 years.
“It has also served as a model for how events like ours can work together with charitable organizations in other parts of the United States. We at Pacific Sports are very proud to have such a great partner in UCP of Greater Cleveland.”
Trish Otter, President & CEO of UCP of Greater Cleveland added, “UCP of Greater Cleveland has been proud to be a partner of Pacific Sports and the Cleveland Triathlon, with our tenth race forthcoming this July. Over the years, 36 families served by agency programming have been a part of Team UCP, bringing close to 1,000 racers and hundreds of volunteers.
“Through these efforts, over US$1 million has been raised to support UCP of Greater Cleveland’s mission to empower children and adults with disabilities to advance their independence, productivity and inclusion in the community. We are grateful for this partnership and both the funds that have been raised and the awareness built throughout the community.”
