Following the departure of IRONMAN 70.3 UK at Wimbleball, Exmoor, this year – rumours had speculated if another race organiser would take over at the site in South West England. It has now been confirmed that the team at Immortal Sport, creator of the Immortal Half Triathlon at the National Trust’s Stourhead Estate, has added two new locations to its 2018 race calendar. One of the two new events includes a weekend of racing at Wimbleball Lake, Exmoor, on 23-24 June 2018.
Immortal Sport has worked behind the scenes to ensure that the new Wimbleball Immortal Weekend will cater not just for triathletes but also their families – by offering Tristars Junior Triathlons as well as entertainment for the family and on-site camping.
The team is also excited to bring to Wimbleball one of the newest race formats on the scene – Mixed Team Relays. With the format to be introduced at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Immortal Sport has joined a number of other UK-based organisers offering the chance to try this fast-paced, spectator friendly format.
The Immortal Half Triathlon at Wimbleball will be billed as the main event next June; and the organisers are ‘pleased confirm that Wimbleball has become Immortal.’
The second new offering by Immortal Sport will see a weekend of triathlon based events at Roadford Lake on the edge of Dartmoor in Devon. The Immortal Weekender Roadford takes place on 31 August to 1 September 2018. According to the organising team, this location lends itself perfectly to triathlon and the team have curated a variety of disciplines, routes and distances to ensure that all abilities are catered for – from a full distance tri over the weekend, to a 10km bike ride suitable for the whole family.
